Durata Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:DRTX) announced on 3rd October that it has received a “Special Protocol Agreement” from the office of U.S Food and Drug Administration. The Protocol agreement is linked to the Phase 3 clinical testing of its drug candidate DALVANCE (dalbavancin). The drug candidate is being developed in an injection format. The drug is being designed to treat pneumonia. The new agreement is expected to align the objectives of the phase 3 tests with the stringent FDA approval requirements. The drug if approved would help provide a one shot treatment for certain forms of pneumonia.
