Dallas, Texas, 09/29/2014 (ustrademedia) – Janus Capital Group Inc. (NYSE:JNS)’s stock soared more than 40 percent on Friday, following its announcement of Bill Gross joining the company. Mr. Gross is expected to further Janus’ strategy to include assets other than stocks. Mr. Gross is regarded as one of the most successful bond investors of his generation. Mr. Gross will be based in a new office in Newport Beach, California. Previously in July 2014, Janus announced the appointment of Nobel Prize winner Myron Scholes as its Chief Investment Strategist. A former bond-fund manager at Janus, Sandy Rufenacht expressed that the fixed-income managers struggle at Janus to expand their funds.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s latest iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus devices are compatible with its tap-to-pay Apple Pay services, launching next month. The debuting service will allow users to pay merchants with their iPhones without requiring cash or plastic. The service will be linked to a user’s debit or credit card and offer convenience and security over the traditional magnetic-stripe card technology. Apply Pay will ask for fingerprint authentication for payments to be made. Gartner estimates, payments using NFC (near-field communication) to double to $8.2 billion in the current year. However, it still accounts for only 2.5 percent of total mobile payment.

Peabody Energy Corporation (NYSE:BTU) recently urged for greater use of advanced coal to improve emissions and address energy inequality. Today half the world’s population or about 3.5 billion people live without ‘adequate’ energy access mainly in South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. Peabody Energy Corporation (NYSE:BTU) Chairman and CEO Gregory H. Boyce expressed that we needed to recognize energy poverty at this time as the most serious crisis. He added that energy access could improve longevity and quality of life for millions of citizens round the world. The best way to further human development and reduce carbon could be through deployment of advanced coal technologies.
