Dallas, Texas, 09/29/2014 (ustrademedia) – Actavis Plc (NYSE:ACT) recently announced the filing of “Abbreviated New Drug Application” with the U.S. FDA. The company filed this application to seek marketing approval for Buprenorphine Transdermal System, which is a generic version of Purdue Pharma’sButrans®. The drug is indicated for pain management requiring daily, long-term opioid treatment for which alternative treatment choices are inadequate. The company believes that it may be the first application to file for ANDA, and if granted, it may be allowed to 180 days of generic market exclusivity. Purdue Pharma LP has filed a lawsuit against the company to prevent it from commercializing Buprenorphine Transdermal System before expiration of certain U.S. Patents.

Allergan, Inc. (NYSE:AGN) Board of Directors received a letter from Pentwater Capital Management. The letter noted that the Board has continuously refuse to meet with Valeant Pharmaceuticals Intl Inc. (NYSE:VRX) to discuss its premium bid for the company. Valeant has shown its interest to increase the bid if Allergan agrees to meet and provide due diligence. The letter also cited about press reports that indicated that Actavis also approached the company with a premium bid. However, the Allergan Board refuses to engage in either bid and such an action has led to the need for special meeting to replace Allergan’s current Board of Directors.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) released an improved version of the mobile operating system iOS 8.0.1. However, the company required pulling its access as many users of its latest iPhones lost cellular service. Last week on Thursday, Apple published a support site for those affected by the fumble, revealing step-by-step instructions on reinstalling iOS 8.0. Apple spokesperson cited apologize for the inconvenience experienced by users and affirmed that the iPhone make is working round the clock to fix this issue with the new iOS 8.0.2. Apple spokesperson also mentioned that the new version will be released in the next few days.
