Dallas, Texas, 10/06/2014 (ustrademedia) – Tekmira Pharmaceuticals Corporation (NASDAQ:TKMR)’s stock is witnessing unprecedented uptrend since the U.S. FDA liberalized certain barriers against the use of its TKM-Ebola treatment. During the past week, the stock gained nearly 36 percent. The buzz came following Centers for Disease Control’s confirmation of the first Ebola case in the U.S. A Liberian national, who recently traveled from West Africa, diagnosed with Ebola in Texas. He traveled to the U.S. in United Airlines, and the carrier is contacting co-passengers travelling in that flight to warn them to exercise possible precautionary measures. After critical review of the situation, the FDA last month upgraded the drug status to a ‘partial’ clinical hold from a ‘full’ clinical hold.
Rockwell Medical Inc. (NASDAQ:RMTI) singed an ‘exclusive’ agreement with Baxter Healthcare Corporation. Under this agreement, Baxter will exclusively distribute Rockwell’s hemodialysis concentrate and related products in the U.S. and select international markets. The agreement is signed for an initial term of ten years, and Baxter can extend the same for two additional terms of 5-year each. The company retains sales and distribution rights for certain overseas markets where it has an established presence. The agreement binds Baxter to meet certain annual purchase levels. As part of this agreement, Rockwell will receive $20 million in cash from Baxter. In addition, Baxter will also invest $15 million to purchase the company’s common stock.
Charles & Colvard, Ltd. (NASDAQ:CTHR) recently launched its Survivor Collection™ for purchase on the company’s direct sales website LuluAvenue.com. The Survivor Collection™, celebrating a cancer survivor’s journey, features three-stone unique jewelry designs signifying life before the diagnosis, through the treatment and post-cure. Five percent from retail sales of Survivor Collection will be donated to Breast Cancer Research Foundation, aiding cancer research. The collection will also be sold through 43 department stores of Boscov and about 80 stores of Ashcroft & Oak Jewelers and Rogers & Hollands Jewelers. Charles & Colvard will also expand its retail base throughout the U.S. and Canada by partnering with select independent jewelers.
